Every penny counts towards saving a life...
One in eight women will develop breast cancer. Our founder is one of them. Statistics have also revealed that over 46 million people in the US do not have health insurance.
Some things in life you can control, others you can not. The Women's Breast Health Initiative is here to show you that you can take control because early detection saves lives. This is the foundation upon which WBHI was built.
WBHI’s strategy focuses on a grassroots approach. WBHI targets working neighborhoods likely to have the highest concentration of the uninsured and underserved. We then conduct door to door outreach providing free breast health awareness, free tools to perform monthly breast self examinations, then culminate that campaign with a neighborhood visit from a mobile mammography van to provide free mammograms to women who qualify. Where mobile mammography is not available, referrals to sites providing low or no cost mammograms will be offered. Follow up referrals and support are given to those women requiring additional assistance as a result of our outreach.
Since 2006 WBHI has knocked on more than 26,540 doors.
WBHI is a non-profit organization that relies solely on Public and Private support. Without your generous donations, our life saving initiative could not continue to make a difference in the lives of countless women in our community. You can make a difference in the fight against breast cancer by supporting the work of WBHI to the medically uninsured and underserved through the two methods listed below. Please help us help others.
